Contenidos ¿libres? en tres niveles para OLPC; ¿y por casa?

Walter Bender publicó hoy en las noticias de OLPC que SJ Klein está preparando un borrador para solicitar contenidos que se distribuirán con las laptop. Según Bender, se preparan tres niveles de contenidos: [1] los que van en las laptop y que, según se indica, serán “libres”; [2] los que se distribuirán en un CD preparado para cada una de las escuelas; y [3] aquellos que se encuentran dentro de una intranet para cada uno de los países que compren las computadoras. No queda claro si todos los contenidos serán libres o sólo los que vengan en las laptop. Tampoco queda claro qué contenidos, de qué autores, de qué origen, etc […]. Lo que si queda claro es por qué el gobierno de India comienza a llamar a OLPC algo “pedagógicamente peligroso“. ¿Y por casa?, mmmm …:

“2. Content: SJ Klein is drafting “request for content” (RFC). The gist is that three-tiered repository of content will be distributed along with the laptop: the innermost tier will be a compact selection of “free” material demonstrating the variety of content that exists to be pre-installed on every laptop—exemplars of different types of video, sound, images, diagrams, and text—at most 20 MB in size; the middle layer will be distributed to each school, 10–50 GB in size, and will include excerpts from a larger collection; the outer layer will be the largest, including a broad set of materials that are freely available to all students using the laptops, and will be available at the regional level within countries distributing the laptops.”
